Ireland and her shirt.

So ireland for the first time today wore her Dora halloween pumkin shirt that has flashing lights on it. When ever the shirt gets moved or vibrated a curtain way, it flashes. So this is her trying to get it to flash.

Killzone 2 Review

I have always had an interest/loved playing video games. Some people may find video games a waste of time, but I see them as a movie that you interact with. It's not like you are doing anything better by watching a movie rather than playing a video game, you just sitting for both, unless you are playing on the wii.

Today I am going to review a very well made game, Killzone 2. A continuation of the killzone family of games, Killzone 2 takes place during the counterattack resulting from the helghast's attack on Vecta. The helghast where pushed back to their home planet of Helghan and now the Vectan ISA (the ISA is essentially their
military) are now pushing to eradicate the thread posed by the helghast. If you would like the full backstory, you can read up on it here.

The visuals in Killzone 2 are nothing short of incredible. If you are into the gritty war torn look, then this is the game for you. They have taken great care to make sure that this game is polished everywhere it needs to be, yet still gritty in it's feel and experience. It wasn't hard at all for me to get sucked into this game to the point where I wouldn't put down the paddle unless I had cleared the particular conflict I was in, or absolutely had to go to bed so I could go to work in the morning.

Games of this particular style have interesting ways of letting you know you are about to die, or getting hurt. For example, Gear of War starts to turn your view red as you get more and more injured. Killzone has taken an opposite direction with this, as you get more and more injured, your view get increasingly less colorful. As you can see from the example on the left, there is essentially no color in this shot except for the glowing eyes of your adversary.

Many times during the game you will get caught in what seem to be endless hordes of Helghast coming at you from all directions, which normally would be a little frustrating. As I have played Killzone 2 I have come to enjoy these moments as I can find ways to make myself more effective while dealing with these seemingly insurmountable number of foes. Many times I will let the NPCs (Non Player Characters) take care of the ground work, and I will sit in a higher perch with the sniper rifle and take out numbers of foes from afar.

Speaking of the sniper rifle, I think the creators of killzone did a great job making the feel of the game authentic with implementing the sniper sway into the Sixaxis controller. if you tilt your controller to the right while looking through the sniper scope, your view will go to the right, and same with the left. So if you are a player who get worked up in a moment like that and doesn't calm himself down, you are in for a very bumpy time trying to aim the sniper rifle.

I have been gaming for many years, and haven't seen many games that are as immersive as killzone 2. If you are into shooters at all. I very strongly recommend Killzone 2.

If you would like to buy Killzone, you can purchase it here.

If you would like to try renting Killzone 2, gamefly is a great place to get the rentals you want, without having to worry about late fees.
Thanks for reading my little review here.
Next in line will be Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Birthdays

I have the hardest time actually remembering peoples birthdays. What I have finally tried to start doing, is adding birthday for people I know into my contacts, so they automatically show up on my calendar. This will at least make it easier for me to remember and give someone at least a call on their birthday.

I use a g1 phone running the google android OS, and since everything is so integrated with google, I have started using the contacts through google, my calendar through google, my email, pretty much all of my life goes through a google server at some point. Have all this integration makes keeping everything organized easier as I can write an email once and access it anywhere, or create a calendar event on my phone and it shows up on my phone, computer, and my google account. The coolest part about is that I can let other people see it, like my wife, so she knows what is being planned, and can see my calendar.

I think google has something here, I even use their stuff for my business colaboration needs. Awesome.

Next cool idea?

I know I am always getting into the next best thing, but what if I am creating the next best thing?

I was over at a place called Trade Imaging picking up some stickers for UtahAirsoft.com and we took a tour of their place and the capabilities they have.

Afterwards while talking with Wade, the Owner of UtahAirsoft.com, we stumbled on a great idea. I wish I could say more about it, but I can't yet.

I have started more website learning with shopping carts and more CMS stuff. Always seem to be learning something new.

Lazy?

Well, it has been a while since I last updated this blog, sorry for those who I think might actually follow my blog. So I have been busy lately with my J.O.B., some projects that have been time consuming. Working on building my Primerica business, and then also trying to take care of design clients.
I am seriously considering quitting my job, I have been for some time, but haven't ever really been having the strong feelings like I have now. Before I make any real decisions I need to make sure Mandi feels the same way I do. It will be hard at first, but I know I can do it.

I took a picture of Ireland the other day playing in daddy's shoes, forgive the phone camera, but it was what I had with me at that time.

Trying to embed the MP3 of my daughters voicemail

Well,
I am trying to embed the MP3 of my daughters voicemail. It really isn't that hard, I just haven't spent the time yet to put it on my server and embed it to here. Stay tuned and it'll be up soon.

So, I got the press to run better, and I should be finishing up the devil job today.

My family got chosen to be one of the families featured in a KSL news radio story about living on $100 of groceries a week. This should be fun, and easy, we have been living on $100 of groceries per week for some time now. Even including the formula.

We went to a family reunion over the weekend for a bit, I wish we could have stayed longer, but I had to go to work, because of this project. Barely got to say hi to everyone, as they all started really arriving and talking as we were leaving. Seems like that is always happening.

Well, life has its curve balls and lemons, all we have to do is make homeruns or lemonade out of them.

Till next time!

The Devil!

So I have now been printing one job for 6 full business days now. And will most likely be working tomorrow, and late tonight.

On to happier thoughts, I found a way to get the cutest voicemail off my voicemail from t-mobile so I could save it. Mand had Ireland call me a while ago, and for what ever reason I didn't feel the phone ring, so it went to voicemail. Here is the voicemail my (at the time) 20 month old daughter left me.

Don't hope for success, plan it!
